JOYCE ELAINE YUILLE originally from New York City returns to the Blue Note Milano… and really needs no introduction. She has now become a full guarantee for the well-known Milanese venue. For the occasion, the American singer will be accompanied by Neapolitan drummer Elio Coppola and his trio. The thirty-eight year old is forcefully making his way in the Italian and international panorama of Jazz music and beyond.
The “special guest” of the evening will be one of her own copatriots, the New York saxophonist Jerry Weldon, one of the most influential saxophonists on the New York and world jazz scene. His resume represents his extensive experience with the biggest names in the jazz world such as Lionel Hampton with whom he began in 1981. He has performed alongside numerous jazz legends over the past thirty years (Jimmy McGriff, Joey DeFrancesco, Bobby Forrester, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Mel Rhyne, the great trombonist Al Grey, George Cables and Cedar Walton, Roy Haynes, Jimmy Cobb, George Benson, Earl Klugh, bassist Keter Betts, singer Mel Tormé and a host of other legendary musicians. In 1990, Jerry joined Harry Connick Jr.’s band with whom he took part in “HARRY”, Connick’s daytime variety show and continues to tour with around the world. Jerry Weldon regularly performs, both as a leader and also as a sideman in the best jazz venues in New York City … and around the world.
