Grammy nominated saxophonist and composer, originally from Vancouver Canada but now residing in Brooklyn, NYC, and a founder member of the Brainfeeder signed funk and jazz outfit Kneebody. A noted composer he recently performed a series of out-standing duets, featuring his compositions, with some of the finest names in contemporary jazz including the likes of Ambrose Akinmusire and Joshua Redman. Expect classy contemporary jazz from a gifted musician at the top of his game.
Recently recognized for the critically acclaimed 2015 music video project The Seasons, inspired by Tchaikovsky’s works of the same name, including guests Joshua Redman, Jeff Ballard, Mark Turner, and Julian Lage, Grammy nominated saxophonist/bassoonist Ben Wendel recently released his Motema debut What We Bring in September 2016. Currently living in Brooklyn, NY, he has enjoyed a varied career performing with artists such as Tigran Hamasyan, Antonio Sanchez, Gerald Clayton, Eric Harland, Snoop Dogg and Prince. Wendel is a founding member of the Grammy nominated group Kneebody.
