Jany McPherson was born in Guantánamo, Cuba. After a career built in her homeland, where she received the prestigious “Adolfo Guzmán” award and collaborated with artists Omara Portuondo and Buena Vista Social Club, Orchestra Anacaona, Alain Pérez and many others, Jany McPherson moved to France. A show woman and stage performer, she has collaborated with John McLaughlin, Mino Cinelu, Andy Narell, André Ceccarelli, Didier Lockwood, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, to name but a few. She has been a guest performer at many international festivals such as Trinidad & Tobago Jazz Festival, Kathmandu Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz, Nice Jazz Festival, Grenoble Jazz Festival, L’Atrium Scène Nationale/Martinica, Auditorium P-E Decimus/Guadeloupe, Cotton Club Tokyo. The new album “A Long Way” follows the previous recording work released in 2020 “Solo Piano!” (Glider Media Group Ltd), which was acclaimed by critics and by Chucho Valdés, one of Cuba’s leading pianists.
