After her different experiences with large formats, Andrea Motis explores a different sound with a new formation, a trio accompanied only by violin, mandolin and percussion. «I wanted a more intimate experience, perhaps more naked, less extroverted, in which to give space to my own compositions, with a message that I hope is also unique in terms of lyrics.» The trumpeter and singer from Barcelona is, in fact, inspired by the long tradition of Anglo-Saxon singer-songwriters, but also by author songs with Latin American roots. To do this, he has a trio with two instruments in which wood is the essential material, which for Motis is a very stimulating starting point: «To be on stage with the percussionist Zé Luis Nascimento and with the violinist Christoph Mallinger is to play with two musicians who multiply almost infinitely the resources of a trio, and the warmth of their instruments inspires me, above all, to adapt my sound to theirs.»
