Singer and pianist Raphael Gualazzi is one of Italy’s most accomplished jazz-blues musicians. In 2005, he released his debut album ‘Love Outside in the Window’ and three years later produced a piano jazz compilation for Wagram Music, but it was his cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Don’t Stop’, released in 2009, that introduced him to a wider audience.
In 2011 he participated in the Sanremo Festival, winning first place in the “Giovani” category and was chosen to bring Italy back to the Eurovision stage, a stage where Italian artists had not performed since 1997.
His authentic sound is the result of his piano studies at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, his subsequent research into early 20th century ragtime blues and New Orleans jazz, and his love for more contemporary artists such as Jamiroquai, Steve Wonder and Ben Harper.
