Sydney Ellis

Passionate about jazz, about rhythm and blues, Sydney Ellis began to sing in the heart of a Baptist church of Ohio. We had to wait for the beginning of the 90s to see her starting her professional career. Later of numerous jams, she chose talented musicians to work with, Lester Lands at the bass, Wendrell Carroll at the drums and Alvin Nicholson at the piano. Influenced as well by Bessie Smith as by Dina Washinton, Nina Simone or Elmore James, the diversity of her music reflects a wealthy musical repertoire. Her vibrant and supple voice crosses universes such as blues, jazz and gospel with rigor and emotion.
